DAFT REASONS TO NOT DO A BOUDOIR PHOTOSHOOT | TOP UK BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHERS
As one of the Top UK Boudoir photographers with two Decades of experience photographing this beautiful thing we call ‘Boudoir’, we have heard every excuse under the Sun to NOT do a Boudoir photoshoot.
The truth is though, the people with the strongest objections are the ones who would benefit most from an experience such as this.
Truly, this experience can change lives. (This is not just empty rhetoric)
This experience can enrich you with confidence you’ve never known before or at least with confidence long lost years ago.
Try and remember the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone and when you did, how exhilarating you felt. (Unless it was swimming with Sharks and you got bitten! Then again, what’s the worst that can happen if you do a Boudoir Photoshoot? )
John Lennon said once that “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans” and it’s true that life does indeed pass us by. We need to stop making excuses and start living our life.
Especially after the crazy year we’ve just had.
These are the TOP 10 EXCUSES PEOPLE MAKE TO NOT DOING A BOUDOIR PHOTOSHOOT
Which one are you hiding behind?
Oooh, the biggie! “I need to lose a few pounds first” – Never has there been a greater lie than this.
No, you don’t!!!
We can prove you look fabulous just as you are AND once you’ve seen just how good you look through our lens, you will gain so much more confidence in your body. You know what, this will help you to diet and exercise and live a more healthy life. Seeing how good you look now is one of the best motivators moving forward. You need this more than ever and you need it NOW!
Think Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Melissa McCarthy, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, Nigella Lawson, Adele, Rebel Wilson, Kate Winslet, oh and that’s not good enough, try … Marilyn Monroe, Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield etc etc etc …. Still think curvy can’t be sexy?
Talkin about sexy, how about lie number 2 on the list…
2. “I DON’T KNOW HOW TO LOOK SEXY”
You ARE sexy and part of doing a boudoir photoshoot is to rediscover this part of yourself.
Let’s face it: We are our own worst critics. We ignore compliments and focus on our imperfections.
If someone tells us what a nice smile we have, we comment on our crow’s feet! They compliment us on how well defined our legs are and we can’t let the moment pass without replying with a comment about the varicose veins we have.
We will show you how sexy you are for a change and then you will see for yourself – perhaps for the first time in a long time – just how right they are.
We will help style your photoshoot and direct you every step of the way.
This is our superpower to help Bring Your Sexy Back!
3. “I’M NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP RIGHT NOW”
This excuse has always befuddled us. Why on earth do you need to feel you have to give your pictures to someone else?
These pictures are for you.
While it’s true that boudoir photography makes a great gift for someone you love, there is another element to this gift that isn’t immediately obvious: The person giving the gift gets a real confidence boost seeing themselves in a new light, and that boost in confidence often results in them being more open in their intimate relationship.
You may have no one to give your photos to as a gift, but the biggest part of that gift is to yourself: Your self-confidence will soar and that will have a positive effect on you and those around you.
Have a Boudoir Photoshoot for your self-confidence and self-esteem and nothing does your self-esteem better than the realisation that you are worth spending the money on.
Of course after years of being a Mum and placing yourself as second or third class citizen in your own home it’s incredibly hard to justify putting yourself first for once but it’s incredibly important to do something like this once in a while.
Learn to value yourself more and you’ll be able to value others better.
4. “I’VE GOT NOTHING TO WEAR”
Dave wears his Boxers until he has holes in them. It drives me crazy! I realise some of you don’t do lingerie and that’s ok. So let’s improvise.
Like Marilyn Monroe did in her most famous photoshoot, wear a bed sheet. It’s all you need. Go naked if you dare or… consider these equally sexy alternatives…
- Leather Jacket
- Tank top and shorts
- Man’s shirt
- A robe / gown
- An Oversized Sweater
All will look as good as Lingerie. Remember, it’s not what you wear that makes you sexy. It’s an attitude.
Guess what? Everyone has cellulite and it’s not something that should stop you from doing a boudoir photo shoot.
If you have cellulite, acne, bruises or scars then those things can be removed in photoshop.
Honestly, cellulite is like having a nose. We all have it. Some don’t like what we have but we need to learn to live with it and it will never stop us from being sexy.
Another Biggie! As we get older, we get more critical of our wrinkles, our bingo wings, our sagginess and our double chins. Non of these things should stand in the way of how sexy we feel. On my 50th I celebrated with a Boudoir Photoshoot of my own and loved every minute of it. That’s me above… warts and all!
The truth is that you will never be this young again – in your lifetime. You are as young as you are ever going to be – So, why wait?
The sooner you do your shoot, the longer you will have to look back on your photos and smile – And perhaps even repeat the experience further on down the line.
The older you get, the sexier you become. Our job is to show you and since we’ve been doing this for 20 years and our clients have aged with us, we think we have a unique set of skills to bring out the best in the majority of our 40 / 50 something clients.
Remember, you’re never too old to feel sexy. As long as you have a pulse, you can feel sexy!
7. THIS IS JUST AN EXCUSE FOR A STRANGER TO SEE ME NAKED
This is another tough objection to overcome and totally understandable that many will feel anxious about baring all (or baring a little) in front of a total stranger. What if the stranger is a man? Does that make it even worse?
Many women would feel more comfortable being photographed by another woman. Many women would prefer a man because they feel that women are far too judgemental. Both views are equally valid. Dave does all the photography for Madison Bou and he’s very experienced at it. He’s very very old though, what can I say, he’s picked up a lot of experience over the years! I work closely with him and whether it’s me or another stylist, there is ALWAYS a woman on the photoshoot at all times. To be honest, it’s as much for his protection as it is for yours. No boudoir photographer should ever be in a room with a client on their own. Apart from anything else, a photographer has to concentrate on achieving great images while the stylist needs to concentrate on the styling details (hair, make-up, clothing, etc )
Our advice is to take the time to learn about the boudoir photographers in your area, and seek out the opinions of friends that have had a photoshoot with them. Be absolutely sure that they are a good fit and that you are going to be able to work together to make some wonderful images.
It really doesn’t really matter what gender your photographer is as long as you feel confident and relaxed with them. Trust your instinct and go with someone who puts you at ease.
Well, this is the biggest excuse of all to not have a Boudoir Photoshoot and probably the most difficult objection to overcome.
Women often feel like they shouldn’t spend money on themselves. Yet of course they will spend money on the kids like there’s no tomorrow. Understandable, but the point is, it’s back to treating ourselves like second-class citizens again. It’s a mindset that has taken years to dig into our consciousness. “I’m not important, it’s all about the kids”
Well, I’m here to tell you that you ARE important. A boudoir session is about going on a journey and discovering a new part of yourself. It is an investment for now and the future.
Unlike a new handbag or pair of shoes or another holiday for a two week tan, your boudoir photos, if properly printed, will last for many decades. You will enjoy them every single time you look at them and they will make you feel good about yourself forever.
There are very few things that money can buy you can say that about.
10. EVERYONE WILL SEE MY PICTURES
Everyone will not see your pictures.
The pictures you see on our website or social media, have been given permission by our clients to share their gorgeous images. We only share photographs of women who allow us to display their images so that other women can be inspired to do this.
